Duties:  Modifying software to fix errors, adapt it to new hardware, improve its performance, or upgrade interfaces. Directing system testing and validation procedures. Directing software programming and documentation development. Consulting with departments or users on project status and proposals. Working with users or departments on technical issues including software system design and maintenance. Analyzing information to recommend and plan the installation of new systems or modifications of an existing system. Consulting with engineering staff to evaluate software-hardware interfaces and develop specifications and performance requirements. Designing and developing software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and design consequences.  Preparing reports on programming project specifications, activities, or status.  Conferring with project managers to obtain information on limitations or capabilities. Examine current and new business procedures. Identify effective solutions for business software system issues. Report common patterns, questions, and other issues to management  Research and estimate costs of upgrades and improvements. Establish specifications for new projects by developing project goals, phases, and budget. Maintaining and enhancing the performance of existing database programs. Assisting database development teams in designing new database programs that meet the organization's data storage needs. Monitoring databases and related systems to ensure optimized performance. Writing new support programs and scripts to increase data storage capacity. Reviewing database and user reports, as well as system information. Performing debugging procedures on database scripts and programs, as well as resolving  conflicts. Adhering to best practices in securely storing, backing up, and archiving data. Documenting processes related to database design, configuration, and performance. Configuring and maintaining the networked computer system, including hardware, system software, and applications. Ensuring data is stored securely and backed up regularly. Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, networking, and system issues when they arise. Replacing and upgrading defective or outdated components when necessary. Monitoring system performance to ensure everything runs smoothly and securely. Researching and recommending new approaches to improve the networked computer system. Providing technical support when requested. Documenting any processes which employees need to follow in order to successfully work within our computing system. Assess city's network and computer system needs. Install hardware and software. Make upgrades and repairs as needed. Oversee digital security. Perform maintenance that all systems are operating. Collect and analyze data to optimize performance. Onboard users to network. Train users on hardware and software. Troubleshoot problems with the system  Oversee local area network and wide area network. Maintaining and administering computer networks and related computing environments including systems software, applications software, hardware, and configurations. Performing disaster recovery operations and data backups when required. Protecting data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning and implementing network security measures. Troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and other network and system problems. Replacing faulty network hardware components when required. Maintaining, configuring, and monitoring virus protection software and email applications. Monitoring network performance to determine if adjustments need to be made. Conferring with network users about solving existing system problems. Operating master consoles to monitor the performance of networks and computer systems. Coordinating computer network access and use. Designing, configuring and testing networking software, computer hardware, and operating system software. Gathering all salient information regarding the intended functions of each database. Receiving requests pertaining to the layout, appearance, and special features of each database. Designing and creating appropriate frameworks that are sufficiently large. Configuring databases such that they are able to withstand attacks and the loss of information. Reviewing each development to detect and amend coding and typographical errors, as well as bugs. Formulating data dictionaries that are congruent with task specifications. Creating technical documents that outline the purpose, capacity, and guidelines  attached to each database. Providing practical guidance on the use and migration of each database. Servicing and updating databases, as required. Assessing the stability, security, and scalability of installed Windows systems. Discussing system and server upgrades with IT managers. Installing or upgrading Windows systems and servers. Providing technical support for staff and back-end system users. Troubleshooting system and server errors. Reviewing system error logs and user-reported errors. Monitoring and updating the Windows codebase. Managing user access. Monitoring system performance. Maintaining server architecture security and creating system backups. Prepare accurate database design and architecture reports for management and executive teams. Oversee the migration of data from legacy systems to new solutions. Monitor the system performance by performing regular tests, troubleshooting and integrating new features.

Qualifications:  Bachelor's degree in computer science or related degree. Must be a full-stack developer and understand concepts of software engineering Experience working on a variety of software development projects.  Deep programming language knowledge. Ability to work in a collaborative environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Highly analytical mindset. Proficient in Microsoft Office. A minimum of two years' experience in database engineering. Extensive experience with database technologies and architecture. Sound knowledge of best practices in database engineering and data security. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Strong understanding of computer network infrastructure. Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices.
